It’s Do or Die for the Boston Bruins

Who would have thought the Bruins would be facing elimination going into Game 5 in the second round of the playoffs? We are down three games to one with no real indication of getting out of this hole. It’s truly unfortunate with everything that happened with Tuukka and honestly the Playoff setup overall but I’m not going to sit here and complain about that because 1) I already did 2) it’s not officially over yet 3) If the shoe was on the other foot, we had the one or even two seed and were in the Lightning’s position I would be carrying a much different tune. So to protect myself from (more) criticism, I won’t complain.

If the Bruins have absolutely any shot of even just keeping this series alive, never mind winning it, they need Halak to step up in a BIG way. Between his disasterly rebound control, puck handling skills, ability to see plays develop into shots getting through to the net and letting up goals softer than under cooked chocolate chip cookies, there’s just no way the Bruins get a W. Hypothetically, let’s say that he stands on his head. Does that win the game for the Bruins? Absolutely not, just delays the enevitable because the Lightning still have to get by five (although with all the stupid penalties its usually less) Bruins players to get a shot on him. The defense, led by Father Time #33 has finally succumb to his age and declining ability, has been dreadful. Not only are they not producing on offense which is usually a bonus for the Bruins, they can’t get out of their own way and when they can players are just standing there not taking bodies or sticks away from a STACKED Lightning team. The Bruins are playing men’s league hockey at this point and it just seems like everyone is going through the motions and not very well.

The offense is non-existent. Between the ridiculous moves that get broken up and turned the other way to bad passes, horrible turn-overs and lackluster effort in our defensive zone it’s no wonder that we are in the position that we are in. Berge, Krejci, Coyle, Marchand, Pasta, McAvoy, Krug all need to step it the f*ck up and save this season. We won the f*cking President’s Trophy for crying out loud. Everyone in the league and everyone in that room knows that they have the ability to complete the mission and it’s so frustrating to watch a team that just doesn’t want to put it into that next gear. The gear that is necessary to not even win the Stanley Cup but hopefully just put you in the position to. I am frustrated as a beloved fan and now with the terrible news of The Fours in Boston closing, a Bruins fan staple before home games, it’s just all bad news all around. But hey – the show isn’t over yet and as everybody knows, it starts with one.
