If you are looking for the top NFL game this Sunday and a potential look at what the Super Bowl could look like, you have come to the right spot. The New Orleans Saints are hosting the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday and these two are the favorites to win their respective conferences. The Chiefs are riding an eight-game win streak into Sunday’s game while the Saints have won nine of their last 10.
The big question here is whether or not Taysom Hill can get the job done against a team like the Chiefs. So far the Saints’ fill-in quarterback has defeated the Atlanta Falcons twice, the Denver Broncos without a quarterback and then lost to an Eagles team that had played terribly up to this point. Drew Brees was reportedly up and throwing this week but this guy broke nearly all of his ribs and had collapsed lungs and it seems rather unlikely that he is able to make a return this quickly. Here’s what the Adam Schefter reported earlier this week,
“The New Orleans Saints are in no rush to bring back Drew Brees, and there’s still no timetable for when the quarterback might play again as he recovers from his 11 fractured ribs and punctured lung, league sources told ESPN.”
Sean Payton hinted at this being the last season that Brees plays in the NFL so there is motivation from this squad to make it deep into the playoffs so they can try and win long enough for Brees to make a comeback. But getting a win Sunday against a red-hot Chiefs team is going to be a big task.
The Chiefs have been mauling defenses all season and especially as of late. The Chiefs have scored less than 27 points in just one game over their last seven. Patrick Mahomes has become the frontrunner for the MVP award, it would be his second if he can win, and it doesn’t look like many defenses have a total answer to stopping these guys. Last week the Dolphins were able to intercept Mahomes on three different occasions and it still wasn’t enough, Mahomes threw for two touchdowns and the Chiefs put up 33 points in a win.
The Saints have a legitimate defense and a suspect offense and the Chiefs have a legitimate offense and a suspect defense. That makes for a game that should be close and very entertaining to watch. The Chiefs have sailed past the Panthers and the Bucs in the NFC South and want to add New Orleans to that list too.
Chiefs vs Saints Keys to the Game:
Chiefs, Stop Kamara: Alvin Kamara is the most important Saints player. The offense truly runs through this guy and if the Chiefs can limit him, they can limit Taysom Hill too and make this game a nightmare.
Saints, Throw it Deep: The Chiefs don’t have the best secondary and if the Saints can get the deep ball going off the hand of Hill who can show his versatility, they’ll have the defense guessing all game long.
Chiefs vs Saints Prediction:
Chiefs 28 Saints 24
