Here we go. It’s the final week of the regular season in fantasy football and it’s all on the line for most players. If you need a win to secure that spot in the playoffs or even worse, if you need a win and need someone else to lose, the way you set your lineup this week is CRUCIAL. A position that is often overlooked is the tight end position, but I am here to tell you that is a stupid thing to ignore. Tight ends can make a break in the game for you. Just this week, I found out Sunday morning that Mark Andrews was a no-go and for whatever reason Robert Tunyan was available. I won my game by 5 points thanks to a touchdown from that pickup. Here are the top tight ends you should target this week.
Logan Thomas – Washington Football Team
Here’s another guy that is owned in way less amount of leagues than he should be. Thomas has been a hit or a miss this year but that is partly due to the unstable quarterback play of the Football Team. Now that Alex Smith is the guy, you can trust Thomas to rack up some points. Last week, he caught all four of his targets and reeled in a score. He is a red-zone guy for Washington and gives you that extra push where needed.
Richard Rodgers – Philadelphia Eagles
Between Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz, I had no idea where Richard Rodgers would fit in this offense but with all the injuries, he filled in nicely and has now become a favorite target in Philly. This past week, he racked up over 48 yards a touchdown. On the season, he has over three games where he scored at least 11 points. It’s clear that Wentz likes to throw to Ertz and he should continue to get targets.
Jonnu Smith – Tennessee Titans
Smith was dropped in a lot of leagues last week due to an injury holding him out. This is a must-add if you can get your hands on him. Smith has been one of the pleasant surprises of the season and is putting up huge numbers with Tannehill throwing him the rock. He is currently considered the 11th best option in the league at the position and is averaging over 7.4 points per game. That is solid production at the tight end position and he has been a guy that they target in the red zone quite a bit.
Kyle Rudolph – Minnesota Vikings
Rudolph is owned in just 15 percent or less of leagues in both Yahoo and ESPN. The month of December should be the best of his season each year right? (Sorry for that) But really, Rudolph is coming off a game where he was targeted seven times and reeled in 68 yards. He is facing a bad Jaguars middle next week and Cousins should continue to throw his way. He’s not the most attractive option, but don’t sleep on him.
