Colts vs Bills. Over the last five weeks in the NFL, the Buffalo Bills have been the most dominant and the most fun team to watch. They are riding a five-game winning streak and coming off a game where they eliminated their division rivals from playoff contention. Now, they sit with the second seed in the AFC and will host the Indianapolis Colts in the first game of Wild Card Weekend.
The Bills are led by Josh Allen who has quietly put up MVP-caliber numbers in just his third year in the league. Allen has dominated defenses and put up massive numbers with the help of Stefon Diggs, who ended the year with the most receiving yards in the NFL. Allen finished the year with 4,544 yards, 37 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions. He had the third highest QBR in the league and drastically improved his accuracy rating over the last two years to where he was competing passes 69.2 percent of the time.
Colts vs Bills Qb Matchup
This will be a chance for Josh Allen to redeem himself from last year’s Wild Card game against the Texans where he helped his team jump out to a 13-0 lead and a dominant first quarter before regressing quickly and making some costly mistakes. Allen had a big fumble, sack, and intentional grounding in a sequence that ultimately led to the Texans winning it.
On the other sideline will be a quarterback that is no stranger to the playoffs. Rivers will start in his 12th and potentially last playoff game. In his first four seasons, Rivers never missed the playoffs but since then he has played in just two over a 10-year span. Rivers has been rumored to retire after this season meaning this game should have a lot on the line for the old, veteran quarterback. Rivers will have his guys backing him as they want to see him go out on top.
It’s going to be a tough one for the Colts as their once potent defense is now allowing over 240 passing yards per game. The Bills own the third best passing offense in the league and should be able to take advantage of that. It’ll be a cold game in Buffalo, where the Bills have a 7-1 record this season. Buffalo is coming into this game as 6.5 point favorites and it will ultimately come down to Allen showing up or not.
Colts vs Bills Keys to the Game:
Buffalo Bills, Tackle the Damn Guy: The Bills have been a bit infuriating when it comes to tackling as they lead the league in missed tackles with 123. Entering the final week of the season, they had allowed 11-runs of plus 20 yards and that could be costly against a very skilled Colts backfield.
Indianapolis Colts, Stopping Allen: I’m not entirely sure how they are going to do this as Allen has put up nine touchdowns to just one interception over the last three weeks but it is critical that the secondary not allow too much early in this game.
Colts vs Bills Prediction:
