Fantasy Expert: 4 Basketball Pickups

by | Feb 16, 2021 | Basketball

Listen, let’s skip the routine and jump right into it. If you need the top fantasy basketball advice, you have come to the right spot. Below, I’m giving you my picks for the top guys to monitor moving forward. And no, Lebron James, Luka Doncic, and Jayson Tatum aren’t going to be on this list. We’ll give you the good picks for the hard to find places.

Desmond Bane – Shooting Guard – Memphis Grizzlies

Desmond Bane has been a fun guy to watch this season for the Grizzlies, picking up playing time after spending some time on the sidelines with COVID-19. He has filled in really nicely for Grayson Allen and since returning to the court, he is averaging close to 24 minutes per game. Bane is a guy who can get hot while shooting and there is a lot of young, untapped potential in this shooter. The Grizzlies need scorers and if he proves that he can play that part then he can make a big difference in the lineup for the Grizzlies and yours.

Carmelo Anthony – Power Forward – Portland Trail Blazers

Yeah, I’m going here and I’m not afraid to do it either. Carmelo is a good fantasy basketball pickup right now if you can find him and he is a guy that is getting more playing time than we originally thought he’d be getting when he signed this new contract with the Blazers. He was ready to take over in a very modest specialty role but he gets more usage than anyone on the team when Lillard and McCollum leave the court. He is a guy who has proven his worth in the league and if you’re in a crunch, Melo is the guy who you should lean on.

Al Horford – Power Forward/Center – Oklahoma City Thunder

The old man shtick is continuing from Melo to Hardofrd. There has been a lot of downtime for the former Sixer but he returned this week and he made a big statement and should be someone that might be worth grabbing. Horford is averaging 16.3 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 3.0 APG, 2.0 SPG and 3.7 3PG over his last three games. This is a guy who hasn’t been nabbed in nearly 14 percent of ESPN leagues. I get that Horford is not the guy who the Celtics gave tons of money to five years ago but he is still a productive basketball player and someone to keep an eye out for before he is grabbed up.

Cam Johnson – Small Forward – Phoenix Suns

The last guy on the list so I am getting a little creative with this one. Cam Johnson is a young basketball player who still needs a lot of development but for the time being, he is a guy to watch out for and pounce on once he starts hitting the stat charts a bit more. Johnson is getting a ton of minutes right now and it seems like only a matter of time before the points start coming. He already averages over 11 points and three rebounds.
