video games

Video games are constantly releasing, and this industry will last forever! This is great because I’ll never run out of great games. But this is also a lot to deal with at times because there is an unlimited supply of games, so it’s impossible to play everything. So I’m going to help make things a little easier by making some suggestions of what you could try out in March 2021.

New Video Games

March 2nd will see Harvest Moon: One World released on the Nintendo Switch and the PS4. If you’re like me and don’t know much about Harvest Moon, we’re looking at a farming simulator RPG. Games like Stardew Valley have taken inspiration from this beloved series.

Nintendo Switch will also be getting a new installment of another beloved series this month, in Monster Hunter: Rise. This action RPG sees you hunt and defeat giant beasts with your really unique set of weapons and skills. I played the demo and I’m definitely interested in jumping in when this game comes out on March 26th.

I am also excited that my PC gaming friends have an opportunity to play one of my favorite series of all time. Starting March 30th, practically all of the Kingdom Hearts games will be available on the Epic Games Store. We’re talking the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 remix, the 2.5 remix, the 2.8 final chapter prologue, kingdom hearts 3 (and its DLC RE:mind), and Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory. Okay, so it’s a lot and it can be confusing where to start. If you get the 1.5 +2.5 remix, just start with the original and enjoy this bizarre combination of Disney and Final Fantasy.

What I’m Playing

I’ve been getting a hang of Cyberpunk 2077. The game isn’t perfect, but I’m enjoying the story. The world is massive which can be a little overwhelming for me, but overall, I really think it’s worth at least giving it a try. We’ll see if I end up sticking with it.

I’ve also been playing a little bit of Sword of the Necromancer, this is a dungeon crawler rogue-like game. I’m not great at it, but I’ve been enjoying giving it a shot. Even though it’s difficult, I think it’s been a lot of fun to figure out the dungeon and just keep trying.

Free Video Games

On Xbox with a Gold subscription, you’ll get access to Warface: Breakout (3/1-3/31), Vicious Attack Llama Apocalypse (3/16-4/15), Metal Slug 3 (3/1-3/15), and Port Royale 3 (3/16-3/31)

On PlayStation plus, you get access to Final Fantasy VII remake and Remnant from the Ashes on PS4, Farpoint on ps4 VR, and Maquette on PS5 (from 3/2-4/5) and Destruction AllStars is also still available on ps5 until April 5th.

My Monthly Recommendation

There have been some big Pokemon announcements recently, so that’s what I’m going to recommend, Pokemon! There are so many different Pokemon games to enjoy.

Most recently, we got Pokemon Sword and Shield on the Switch. This is what you’d expect out of a Pokemon game: monster collecting, turn-based battles, and a big world. These games have a brand new region and a brand new set of Pokemon, it’s definitely worth checking out. PLUS there’s additional DLC to make the experience last even longer.

I’d also like to mention that Pokemon Go is still fun. I pop in and out of this one, but I enjoy it so much, it’s also a great way to get me off my butt and out of the house.

With so many games, it can be hard to make a choice, but hopefully, I was able to help you come up with some cool ideas.

Play on, Pals
